The city of Girona has experienced one of the warmest starts to summer since 1950, with average temperatures exceeding the 1991-2020 typical values by 3.2ºC.

According to data from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, the thermal anomaly has been particularly notable during daylight hours, with maximums reaching an average of 34.1ºC. These figures make the current period the second warmest start to summer recorded in the city, surpassed only by last year's data.
The heat episode is part of a generalized anomaly across Catalunya, where the average temperature between June 1st and July 15th was 3.8ºC above the climatic average. The persistence of warm air masses has caused several consecutive heatwaves, affecting regions such as Gironès and Selva.
Although a slight drop in temperatures is expected in the coming days, forecasts indicate that temperatures will remain above normal. Currently, the Infocat plan alert remains active due to the high risk of forest fires, while the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques has attended to 150 people for heat-related issues.
