The new installment of the arachnid superhero, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has become the highest-grossing premiere in the history of cinema in Spain, earning €3.2 million on its opening day. This figure marks a new record, surpassing other recent major productions.
In the Girona region, the film's arrival has been met with great enthusiasm. On Wednesday, the opening day, 46 screenings were scheduled, increasing to 59 on Friday to kick off the weekend. The most intensive programming is concentrated on Saturday, with 63 screenings across the province.
The Ocine multiplexes, particularly the one in Blanes with seventeen daily screenings, are leading the film's promotion. Other cinemas such as Odeon in Salt, Girona, and Platja d'Aro also offer multiple showings, with packed auditoriums reminiscent of summer blockbusters. Cinemas in Figueres, Olot, Roses, Tossa de Mar, and Ripoll have also joined the initiative.
Nationally, the film attracted over 825,000 viewers on Wednesday, making it the busiest day for cinemas this year. This data confirms the saga's continued success, which already grossed seven million on the opening weekend of Spider-Man: No way home in 2021. Brand New Day is projected to exceed ten million between Wednesday and Sunday.
The film focuses on a hero living alone to protect New York, as he confronts a telepathic enemy and reunites with his friends. The plot includes elements of transformation and the need to learn to control new powers with the help of other characters.
