For four days, the capital of La Selva has transformed into a meeting point for ratafia enthusiasts, featuring an extensive program of tastings, contests, demonstrations, talks, music, and family-friendly events. This Saturday morning, the institutional breakfast was attended by the president of the Diputació de Girona, Miquel Noguer, and the fourth vice-president, Jordi Camps, along with other institutional representatives such as the mayor of Santa Coloma de Farners, Josep Prat, and the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque.
The delegation visited the fair, where they spoke with the managers of the thirty-six stalls selling artisanal products located in Plaça Farners. The celebration, which preserves a century-old tradition, highlighted its 45th-anniversary commemoration this year.
The entity Jovent del Poble, which initiated the first ratafia contest in 1982, was recognized as Confrare d'Honor (Honorary Confrere) during Friday's Ratafia Gala. At the same event, Montse Obiols from Roda de Ter won the best ratafia contest with a record 341 entries.
The festival will culminate on Sunday with final activities and tastings, including a demonstration of products from the quality seal Girona Excel·lent by chef Jordi Àvila, titled «Ratafia i Girona Excel·lent: cuina amb essència de territori» (Ratafia and Girona Excellent: cuisine with the essence of the territory).
The Ratafia Festival is jointly organized by the Santa Coloma de Farners City Council and the Confraria de la Ratafia (Ratafia Confraternity), with the support of the Diputació de Girona.
