The Girona-based club aims to complete a twelve-player team, maintaining Roberto Íñiguez's continuity on the bench. With eight players already confirmed, the organization is working to secure the remaining two signings in the market to face a demanding season with the Women's League and European competition as major challenges.
With the recent announcement of shooting guard Queralt Casas, Spar has now made six signings this summer. Casas is joined by Iyana Martín (from Avenida), Juana Camilión (Estudiantes), Tilbe Şenyürek (Fenerbahce), Madison Conner (Estepona), and Marta García (Azulmarino). These new additions complement players already under contract, Laura Quevedo and Axelle Merceron.
The locker room led by Roberto Íñiguez will undergo significant changes with the departure of key players such as Chloe Bibby, Mariam Coulibaly, and Klara Holm, as well as local young prospects Berta Ribas and Anna Badosa. The club's strategy focuses on a team with more physicality, resources, and a blend of experience, youth, and versatility.
The new signings will bring diverse qualities: Casas, experience, defense, and leadership; Martín, talent and perimeter playmaking; Camilión, competitive spirit and versatility; Şenyürek, height and interior presence; and García, potential and energy. The anticipated point guard and center are crucial pieces for balancing the team.
The season's first major challenge will be the EuroLeague preliminary round in late September, aiming to secure a spot in the top continental competition. This will be the initial test for a significantly revamped team, striving for cohesion despite the need to integrate many new players quickly.
