Girona's Barri Vell is experiencing an overload of events and filming, causing distress among residents who are calling for better management by the City Council.

Girona's historic center, known as the Barri Vell, is facing increasing pressure due to the concentration of activities and filming. Recent events such as Strenes, Temps de Flors, The Traka, and the filming of Tomb Raider, along with the anticipated Disney production, have prompted the Barri Vell Residents Association to request greater planning and consideration for residents' lives.
The association's president, Magalí Pons, has voiced a feeling of "saturation" due to the succession of events in a short period, stating that residents feel "like a stage" and that their daily lives are not sufficiently considered. While acknowledging the cooperation of the Tomb Raider production company, Pons criticizes the lack of compensation for affected residents and the accumulation of events without adequate control by the council.
Regarding the upcoming Disney filming, the association is awaiting a meeting to provide an assessment. The residents' primary complaint centers on the insufficient information received, often with very little notice before events. According to Pons, "the leaflet two days before is completely true," and she points out that "the City Council fails much more than the production company" in communication.
Neighborhood residents confirm that official council information arrives late, while production companies do contact directly affected businesses with more advance notice. The City Council is criticized for its lack of foresight in communicating mobility, access, and daily organizational impacts with sufficient time.
Municipal management has been criticized by PSC-Girona pel Canvi. Councilor Ferran Rafa advocates for the compatibility of large productions with local life but demands that the City Council "plans, informs, and anticipates the impacts."
From the municipal government, the second deputy mayor, Quim Ayats, has defended the positive impact of the filming, highlighting the promotion of Girona's culture and the audiovisual and economic sectors. He admits that these productions cause inconvenience and "a lot of movement" but assures that efforts are made to minimize disruptions. The municipal government "takes note" of the complaints to improve future information.
