The Girona Art Museum inaugurated its new temporary exhibition "Instruments of the Soul. Matter and Spirit in Medieval Catalonia" on Friday, October 23, inviting visitors to rediscover medieval objects as mediators between the everyday and the divine.

The exhibition, curated by Marc Sureda and Alberto Velasco, is part of a collaborative project with Vic, Lleida, and Solsona, culminating its tour in Girona. The opening event featured speeches by Carme Clusellas, director of the Girona Art Museum; curators Marc Sureda and Alberto Velasco; Isabel Bernal, director of the Territorial Services of Culture in Girona; and Fra Octavi Vilà, Bishop of Girona. Also in attendance were Pere Parramon, Subdelegate of the Government in Catalonia; Josep Manuel Rueda, president of the Friends of the md’A; and the directors of the participating museums: Lídia Fàbregas (MEV, Vic), Carles Freixes (Museu Diocesà i Comarcal de Solsona), and Clara Arbués (Museu de Lleida).
The exhibition offers a journey through the material paths of the soul and a different way of looking at medieval art. It will be on display at the Girona Art Museum until March 29, 2027.
The program of activities includes a guided tour with the curators on Saturday, February 27, 2027, at 11:30 AM, led by Alberto Velasco. There will also be a conference "Deambulatoris.
