Colombian midfielder Jhon Solís is close to finalizing his transfer from Girona FC to Birmingham City of the English Championship for around 4 million euros, traveling today to England.

Girona FC is finalizing the transfer of Jhon Solís to Birmingham City, a club competing in the English Championship. The Colombian midfielder has already traveled to England to complete his medical examination and seal the agreement.
The operation is expected to close for approximately 4 million euros, plus variables and a percentage of a future sale of the player. It remains to be confirmed whether the transfer will be immediate or if the formula of a loan with a mandatory purchase option by the English club next summer will be used.
Solís arrived in Girona in the summer of 2023 from Atlético Nacional de Medellín for 6 million euros. The Catalan club is nearly recovering its initial investment after a performance deemed irregular and below expectations.
The player from Guacarí has played a total of 61 matches for Girona, accumulating 1,905 minutes and scoring one goal—the one that gave Míchel's team the victory in added time during the visit to Mendizorrotza last season (0-1).
The non-EU player spot left vacant by Solís will be filled by the young Argentine Claudio Echeverri, who has already been training with the squad for two weeks with permission from Manchester City, the club that will loan him until June 30.
