Residents of the Palau-Sacosta neighborhood in Girona celebrated the Sant Antoni Abat Festival this Sunday, upholding the tradition of blessing animals despite the heavy rain.

Several Catalan municipalities hosted the Sant Antoni Abat Festival this weekend, a celebration honoring the patron saint of animals and rural life. This festivity usually includes the blessing of animals and popular parades as part of the events.
In Girona, the main event took place in the Palau-Sacosta neighborhood, specifically on Sant Miquel Church street, as scheduled for Sunday. Rain dominated the day, but it did not prevent the ceremony from taking place.

The tradition remained alive, demonstrating that devotion to the patron saint of animals is stronger than the meteorological inclemency.

Although the event was held normally, the organization noted a slightly lower attendance of participants compared to previous years, due to the adverse weather conditions that affected popular participation.
