This historic figure, reached on December 31, means the airport achieved one of the goals set by its strategic board for 2025. The 9.4% rise in passengers is complemented by a significant increase in operations, with 28,067 landings and takeoffs, 15.2% more than the previous year.
The growth in 2025, while solid, occurred at a slower pace than in the two previous years, when the post-pandemic recovery drove increases of 25.9% in 2024 and 20.7% in 2023. The December data proved crucial, adding 51,000 passengers to the overall count, 4.6% more than the previous December.
The low-cost airline Ryanair remains the main driver of the terminal, transporting over 1.77 million passengers during 2025, representing an 8.6% growth.
Other key airlines also showed strong performance. The British airline Jet2 closed the year with 133,711 users and 10.6% growth, while Transavia registered 118,277 passengers, an increase of 5.7%. Air Arabia and Wizz Air, which began operating in late 2024, recorded 21,643 and 19,005 users respectively, completing their first full year of activity.
Regarding operations, out of 28,067 total movements, only 16,684 were commercial flights, although this figure implies an 8.9% growth compared to the previous year. The overall increase in operations is largely due to the growing importance of private aviation at the Girona terminal.
