The human resources company Randstad forecasts that the January sales campaign will generate 2,515 temporary contracts in the Girona region, representing a 2.1% drop compared to the previous year.

Despite the decline in Girona, which remains the second Catalan province in terms of hiring volume, Catalonia as a whole is expected to register 26,170 contracts, a 0.3% decrease from last year. Barcelona will lead with 19,995 contracts (-0.6%), while Lleida will be the province with the highest percentage growth (+4.6%), reaching 1,255 hires.

"Hiring for the sales campaign will register a slight increase this year thanks to favorable consumption prospects, which will drive a very notable increase in employment in retail during one of the most important times of the year."

Nationally, the campaign is projected to generate 143,495 contracts across Spain, an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year. The transport and logistics sector continues to be the primary job generator, accounting for 79,760 contracts (55.6% of the total), despite experiencing a slight 3.8% decrease in volume.
In contrast, the retail sector is experiencing a significant rebound in hiring, up 11.7%, reaching 63,735 contracts. The most sought-after profiles for this January campaign include packers, forklift operators, warehouse assistants, transporters, sales assistants, and customer service staff.
