The campaign, promoted by the Health and Public Sanitation and Civic Responsibility departments, emphasizes four basic obligations for dog owners: always picking up excrement, cleaning urine with water and biodegradable detergent, keeping dogs on a leash in public areas (except in designated spaces), and respecting areas where animals are not permitted, such as children's playgrounds. These measures aim to preserve the cleanliness, sanitation, and quality of shared spaces.
During the campaign period, the Local Police will intensify checks to ensure compliance with the municipal ordinance. Additionally, the City Council will set up two information points to bring the initiative closer to citizens, resolve doubts, and inform about the rights and obligations of animal owners. Free bottles for cleaning dog urine will be distributed at these points.
The information points will be open on November 6th, in front of Mare Paula park (Riera), from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and on November 13th, in front of the City Council, during the same hours.
The City Council reminds citizens that responsible pet ownership not only involves ensuring the animal's welfare but also respecting the environment and fellow citizens, thus contributing to a cleaner and more pleasant municipality.
