The torrential rain episode recorded between Saturday and Sunday has left 163 l/m² in Caldes d'Estrac, causing the Riera river to overflow, affecting public spaces, and rendering the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) inoperable this Monday.

The municipality of Caldes d'Estrac has experienced several disruptions following the extraordinary episode of torrential rains that began on Saturday afternoon, October 3rd, and continued until Sunday morning. During this period, 163 liters per square meter were recorded, with moments of very intense precipitation.
The rise of the Riera river has swept away some of the new bins located in the plaça del Molí, which became stuck along its course. Cleaning services will be working throughout the week to restore normality. The force of the water also affected some vehicles and carried sand and vegetation debris, causing blockages in drains and flooding in various areas, particularly in the upper part of the municipality. The municipal brigade is working to resolve these issues.
At the curve of the Riera near the Town Hall, the overflow has filled the plaça de la Vila with sand, affecting the ground floor of the Town Hall, where the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) is located, and the Balneari. Due to the flooding, the OAC will remain closed this Monday.
Despite the partial canalization of the Riera, the accumulation of sand and vegetation debris has caused water to flow over the banks, flooding the Passeig de les Moreres. The Bassiot area has also been inundated due to the heavy rainfall.
Traffic on the Riera remains restricted while municipal services remove sand and debris. Circulation is not possible on the Riera from Plaça del Molí; to leave the town via this route, one must take carrer de la Mercè towards the highway or the N-II.
Access from Passeig de les Moreres and Passeig de Mar towards the Riera is also prohibited, requiring travel towards Sant Vicenç de Montalt to connect to the N-II road. Carrer Callao is restricted to traffic due to sand accumulation in the lower part of the Riera.
Affectations have also been reported on the slope of the cemetery and on carrer Torrenova. The area of the Riera de Sant Vicenç, the Pont del Sargent, and La Ratlla show no incidents.
Due to the disruptions, access to the Town Hall this Monday will not be possible through the plaça de la Vila entrance. Access to the municipal building will exceptionally be via the door located on carrer de l'Església.
