The event will feature 38 choirs competing for the World Choral Cup. In total, it is expected to gather nearly 3,300 people, including singers and their companions, from 24 different countries such as Uruguay, the United States, Turkey, Pakistan, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The festival will kick off on Thursday, October 22, with a parade from the Riera de Capaspre to the Pati de l’Os in Parc Dalmau, where the opening ceremony will be held at 4:30 PM. The event was presented on Tuesday in the plenary hall of the Calella City Council, with the participation of its mayor, Marc Buch.
Sing for Gold is aimed at non-professional choirs and includes seven categories: children's, youth, chamber and vocal ensembles, adult, sacred music, pop, jazz and gospel, and folklore. An international jury will evaluate the performances and award gold, silver, and bronze medals. The top-ranked choirs will advance to the final round for the World Choral Cup, and their results will also contribute to their standing in the world choral ranking.
This festival is part of the calendar of international choral events that Calella hosts every two years, alternating with Canta al Mar. Both events are organized by Interkultur and Viatges Tauro in collaboration with the Calella City Council.
