The assault took place on Thursday, January 8, afternoon in a residence in the Calella municipality, Maresme. The two victims, mother and daughter, sustained very serious injuries and had to be rushed to a hospital.
According to police sources, the assailant is believed to be the daughter's romantic partner. The Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) treated the women before their transfer.
The Catalan police have opened an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the events.
The Mossos d'Esquadra immediately cordoned off the area after receiving the alert. As of now, the man has not been arrested, and an active operation remains in place to locate him.
