The Canet de Mar City Council will meet on November 3rd with the Directorate General of Transport and Mobility of the Generalitat de Catalunya to follow up on demands for improvements in the municipality's public transport connections.

During the City Council meeting on Thursday, October 15th, the mayor of Canet de Mar, Pere Xirau, reiterated the council's commitment to improving the municipality's public transport connections, a demand shared with the citizen platform Canet Connecta Bus, which demonstrated in front of the council building that same day.
The City Council requested an urgent meeting with the Directorate General of Transport and Mobility on October 7th to follow up on requests made on March 12th. The meeting is scheduled for November 3rd.
Among the needs raised are increasing the frequency of the R1 line in the section after Arenys de Mar, implementing semi-direct trains from Alt Maresme to Barcelona, increasing the frequency of line 603 (connecting to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona - El Prat Airport), and extending line 618 to pass through Canet before accessing the highway to offer a bus service to central Barcelona. A review of the bus service connecting to Calella Hospital and educational centers was also requested due to insufficient frequency.
The mayor stated that citizen mobilization is valued as a reinforcement to the council's demands.
The mayor invited the demonstration attendees to a dialogue session, but no representatives from the platform attended.
