The city of Calella, in the Maresme region, has acquired a new fully electric tourist train that will join the two existing ones to optimize transport services starting at the end of July.

The new vehicle, which has already passed initial test runs through the city streets, aims to ensure the regularity of trips. Until now, the service operated on an hourly frequency that could be affected by technical issues, a situation that the new addition will help resolve with a more robust and silent fleet.
Regarding technical specifications, the train maintains the classic aesthetic of the models acquired in 2014 and 2018. With a length of over 16 meters, the vehicle has a capacity for 56 passengers and includes accessibility improvements, such as a ramp for people with reduced mobility, as well as an upgraded sound system.
The investment for this acquisition was 360,000 euros, excluding VAT, and was financed by European Next Generation funds under the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination. The service will remain operational until November 1st, with the intention of providing occasional service throughout the rest of the year.
Fares remain unchanged: the standard ticket costs 4 euros, while the child fare and the discounted rate for seniors over 65 with the Carnet Groc are priced at 2 euros. Users can check schedules and stops via the Mou-te per Calella web app.
