Calella City Council has initiated the process to update its municipal swimming pool, aiming to ensure the facilities are in optimal condition for years to come. This project has a budget exceeding one million euros, funded by both municipal resources and grants from other administrations.
The initial planned interventions will focus on replacing the current dehumidification system and undertaking a comprehensive renovation of the changing rooms, reception area, and offices. The project's design phase for these spaces has already begun, with construction anticipated to start between late 2026 and early 2027.
Regarding climate control, this August will see the replacement of the existing dehumidifier with a new system utilizing a textile duct suspended from the ceiling. This specific upgrade is estimated to cost over 142,000 euros, excluding VAT.
The complete renovation of this sports facility is part of a unanimous agreement among all municipal political groups. This pact earmarks an annual allocation of 250,000 euros from the municipal budget for the pool's improvement over five years.
This contribution is supplemented by other funding sources. Notably, a grant of 550,000 euros from the Consell Català de l'Esport, as part of the Shock Plan for improving the Basic Network of Public Sports Facilities. Additionally, 65,000 euros have been received from the Barcelona Provincial Council's Sectoral Program for Sports Facilities, along with an extra sum approved this year through a budget modification.
