The Junts per Catalunya Senator, Eduard Pujol, testified this Wednesday in the trial against his ex-partner, Eva Ràfols, who is accused of harassment and slander for defaming him on social media.

The politician appeared as a witness in the trial against Eva Ràfols, who is accused of libel, slander, and harassment for falsely attributing sexual crimes to him, including the accusation of being a “child rapist”. The relationship between Pujol and the accused began in 2018 with sporadic encounters. According to the senator's account, the defamation campaign began when he refused to formalize the relationship.

"That day I died. It was my civil death. I will never recover my honor."

During the period of harassment, Ràfols sent him a total of 3,400 messages. The accused used a method of warning Pujol via WhatsApp or Instagram of her intentions before publishing manipulated photo montages. These publications were sent directly to the leadership of Junts per Catalunya and to the media. This situation forced Pujol to resign his deputy seat in the Parliament of Catalonia.
The accused, who invoked her right not to testify about the facts, only responded to her lawyer, detailing that the relationship was “sporadic and punctual” in 2019. Although she did not deny sending thousands of threatening messages, she did not explain her motivation. Pujol's defense is seeking a prison sentence and compensation of 50,000 euros. The text also notes that a second sexual harassment complaint against Pujol, filed by Pineda de Mar Councillor Noemí Llorens, was subsequently archived.
