The Court of Auditors has archived proceedings against the Canet de Mar City Council concerning credit approvals and local police salary supplements, finding no damage to public funds.

The Court of Auditors has closed the investigations opened against the Canet de Mar City Council (Maresme). The proceedings examined the repeated approval of extrajudicial credit recognitions during the 2023 and 2024 fiscal years, as well as the payment of certain salary supplements to Local Police personnel.
According to information provided by the local government, the investigating delegate concluded that the services and supplies under investigation were effectively rendered, met real municipal needs, were duly received, and were paid for at market value. Regarding the salary components for the Local Police, the resolution confirms they corresponded to services actually provided, were stipulated in current personnel agreements, and had the necessary budgetary coverage.
Based on these premises, the investigator determined that none of the investigated facts could cause damage to the municipal public funds, thus ruling out any accounting responsibility.
The council indicated that the procedure was allegedly initiated following a complaint filed with the Office of Anti-Fraud of Catalonia by a socialist opposition councilor. This information stems from public statements made by the councilor to the newspaper last February.
The City Council emphasized its full cooperation with the control bodies throughout the process, providing all requested information and documentation. The mayor's office has requested a detailed report from the municipal departments, which will be made public, on the hours and technical, administrative, and legal resources dedicated to gathering information, preparing reports, and responding to the procedure's requirements.
