Illa and Puente establish Rodalies de Catalunya, set to operate from 2027

The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, formally established Rodalies de Catalunya on Monday at the Palau, scheduled to begin operating in 2027.

As detailed during the event, Rodalies de Catalunya is scheduled to begin its operations in 2027. One of the first routes to be managed by the new entity will be the R1 line, which connects the Maresme and the Selva regions.
The agreement between the Catalan Government and the Ministry of Transport seeks to improve the efficiency and quality of the commuter rail service, a key service for the mobility of thousands of citizens in the metropolitan area and the Girona regions.
