The incident took place around ten in the morning at a business located in the center of the Maresme capital. The assailant managed to steal merchandise from the establishment before fleeing. Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery, as confirmed by Catalan police sources.
Security cameras at the store captured the moment of the robbery. The footage shows a man entering the establishment dragging a suitcase and, after asking about chargers, pulling out a handgun which he loads and uses to threaten the clerk. The employee attempted to flee while female screams were heard in the background.
“"To the floor, calmly."
This event occurs amidst a debate on security in Catalonia, which has become a central topic on the political agenda. Recently, several violent incidents have been reported, including a fatal stabbing in Esplugues de Llobregat and a shooting in Lloret de Mar, as well as various fights involving bladed weapons.
In response to this situation, the Minister of Interior, Núria Parlon, and high-ranking officials of the Mossos d'Esquadra had to provide explanations. The Interior department has argued that overall data indicates a decrease in criminal acts, although reports of violence against individuals, such as injuries, attempted homicides, threats, or coercion, continue to rise.
