Cyclist Paula Blasi has faced a significant setback at the start of the 2026 Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, with her bicycle being stolen in Santa Susanna.

Paula Blasi's team, UAE Team Emirates, has reported the theft of the rider's Colnago Y1Rs bicycle, which was used to start the race in Santa Susanna. The team has requested the cooperation of local authorities to recover the sports equipment.
The first stage of the Volta, starting and finishing in Santa Susanna with a distance of 91.9 kilometers, was dominated by Team Jumbo Visma. Cyclist Nienke Veenhoven won the final sprint, followed by her teammate Marianne Vos. Valentine Fortin of Cofidis completed the podium.
Paula Blasi arrived with the main group, matching the stage winner's time of 2:15:27.
