Malgrat de Mar has renewed for the tenth consecutive year its four Honor Flowers from the Viles Florides award, recognizing the transformation of public space through urban greenery.

The Viles Florides movement, promoted by the Confederació d'Horticultura Ornamental de Catalunya (CHOC), presented its annual awards last Friday in Reus. This year, 177 Catalan and Andorran municipalities have been recognized for their commitment to urban green spaces.
Malgrat de Mar has successfully renewed its four Honor Flowers for the tenth consecutive year. The first deputy mayor, Jordi Farré, was responsible for collecting the award.
The Honor Flowers are a distinction awarded by a specialized jury that certifies municipalities as Viles Florides. They are awarded from one to five flowers, evaluating key aspects such as plant and landscape heritage, the relationship between green space and population size, resources allocated to green space maintenance, floral diversity, the functionality of green spaces, and the existence of a plant heritage inventory.
Additionally, respect for the environment and sustainability are considered, through variables such as water management, pest and disease control programs, waste management and cleaning, and the quality of urban furniture.
