The Consorci Sanitari del Maresme has released its 2025 Report, a key year marked by the designation of Mataró Hospital as a University Hospital by UAB, the launch of new healthcare projects, and increased research activity.

The 2025 Report from the Consorci Sanitari del Maresme (CSdM) outlines the organization's main results and milestones, notably the designation of Mataró Hospital as a University Hospital of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). This recognition solidifies a collaboration initiated in 2000 and strengthens the hospital's role in health education, research, and innovation.
The year 2025 also saw significant transformation in healthcare services. In March, ARGOS, the new clinical information system for SISCAT, was implemented after extensive training for over 2,000 professionals. The day surgery model was consolidated, with three out of every four surgical procedures performed without hospitalization.
The service portfolio has expanded with new units, including the Unit for Systemic Autoimmune Diseases and the Uncontrolled Hypertension Unit, alongside the first digestive ecoendoscopy. The hospital also performed its first surgery using the ROSA® robot for knee prostheses, and an alliance with five Catalan hospitals was formed to incorporate the Toumai robotic surgery system in 2026.
Healthcare activity remained high throughout the year, with 113,584 emergency visits, 288,355 outpatient consultations, 507,897 primary care visits, 25,282 inpatient discharges, and 9,704 major day surgery procedures.
Research and innovation continue to be strategic pillars. In 2025, 90 scientific articles were published, 38 of them in top-quartile journals. Thirteen competitive research projects and thirteen innovation projects remained active.
A key future project is the new Mataró Intermediate Care Hospital, for which the project design was awarded in 2025. This facility will feature 244 beds and approximately 18,000 m² of built space, enhancing care for the elderly, frailty, and chronic conditions in the Maresme region.
The teams' work has also been recognized with various awards. The Mataró University Hospital received the ESO Angels Award in Diamond category for the third consecutive year for its stroke care results, the KAIZEN™ Sanidad 2025 Award for Continuous Improvement Model, and the Benchmark BSH Award in the Maternal-Infant Area. It also maintained its position among the top 100 public hospitals in Spain and 11th in Catalonia according to the Merco Healthcare Reputation Monitor.
In terms of quality and sustainability, the CSdM expanded its ISO 9001 certifications to four areas and obtained its first ISO 14001 for General Services in environmental management.
