The reference cultural facilities in Mataró, the Libraries of Mataró, are strengthening their collaboration with the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CNL) of Maresme through their formal adhesion to the Volunteer for Language (VxL) program. This alliance consolidates the cooperation between both public institutions.
Currently, the city has three public libraries that serve as registration points for VxL: the Pompeu Fabra Library, located at Plaça d'Occitània s/n; the Antoni Comas Library, at Carrer d'Enric Prat de la Riba, 110; and the Popular Library, at Carrer d'en Palau, 18.
In addition to their usual services, the libraries promote the "Entre Nosaltres" Easy Reading Club, an activity that complements the CNL's Catalan courses. These sessions, lasting one hour, are designed to improve reading comprehension and read-aloud skills using books adapted for language learners.
The libraries also offer themselves as spaces for conversation practice for students in Catalan courses. With this adhesion, they demonstrate their commitment to promoting the Catalan language and join the network of nearly 200 collaborating establishments, entities, and public bodies in the Maresme region.
