The Mataró City Council has presented the new Catalan Promotion Plan, approved in the municipal plenary on October 1st, aiming to reinforce the use of the language in the city.

The Councilor for Education and now also head of the Catalan Department, Beatriz Delgado, presented the plan during the plenary session. This instrument seeks to promote the Catalan language as an element of equality and social cohesion, a key objective of the new department established in March.
The document, jointly developed by the CNL del Maresme and the City Council, with collaboration from the Taula d’Entitats per la Llengua and representatives from various sectors, will serve as a guide for municipal services and aims to reverse the decline in the social use of Catalan.
The plan is structured around eight main lines of action: ensuring the normal use of Catalan in local institutions and public companies; promoting its social learning; facilitating its use in the local commercial, business, educational, cultural, sports, and associative sectors; and generating useful resources and favorable usage habits.
Delgado detailed that the plan spans four years, involving continuous and sustained action, and will be reviewed annually by a monitoring committee.
The first deputy mayor and coordinator of the Catalan Department, Miquel Àngel Vadell, emphasized the political commitment to implement the plan, highlighting its broad consensus and adherence to the established timeline.
