The Tiana City Council has driven an investment of nearly 800,000 euros to improve the municipality's water network, replacing old pipes and enhancing hydrant safety.

Many residents recall the frequent breakdowns and supply cuts in Tiana's water network years ago, a result of underinvestment in maintenance. In 2024, the City Council demanded that Sorea, the water supplier, invest over 400,000 euros in improvements, including replacing asbestos-cement pipes and intervening at key points. According to Mayor Isaac Salvatierra, this action has reduced incidents and water losses.
Currently, a second package of interventions is underway, funded by the concessionary company and a grant from the Provincial Council (Diputació). These works, totaling over 350,000 euros, involve changing pipes in a new section of the Riera de Tiana, on Santa Joaquima de Vedruna street, on del Mar, Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer, and Verge de Montserrat streets, and on the Nou Pins path.
Additionally, the hydrant network, the connection points for firefighters, has been improved. New hydrants have been identified and installed on narrow streets where fire trucks might face access difficulties, thereby increasing safety.
Tiana's water service, previously managed by the City Council, will now be handled by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB). A ruling by the High Court of Catalonia in 2020 mandates this transfer. The AMB has launched a management tender for seven municipalities, including Tiana, totaling 230,000 inhabitants. The 25-year concession has been awarded to Veolia, the French multinational that has integrated Sorea and the Aigües de Barcelona (Agbar) group.
