The agreement, recently signed at APASA's facilities, primarily aims to encourage the active participation of individuals with functional diversity in community and adapted sports activities. This initiative will facilitate the development of various sports events, educational workshops, and activities focused on health and physical activity, with the direct involvement of students from the Technification Institute.
In addition to promoting sports, the agreement seeks to strengthen collaboration among different local entities, creating new spaces for coexistence and inclusion. The deputy mayor of the town emphasized the importance of this union, highlighting that the agreement integrates "three key pieces of society: inclusion, education, and sport".
“"Amposta is an educating city, a sporting city, and also an inclusive city."
The general director of APASA stated that the agreement should contribute to "increasing sports practice and, above all, the social inclusion of people with functional diversity and their families". He also advocated for the need to reinforce cooperation between entities to optimize resources and consolidate initiatives with significant social impact in the region.
Similarly, the director of the Amposta Technification Institute highlighted the social benefits of the project, asserting that "these are projects that do not add, but multiply". According to the director, such initiatives help to understand "the importance of diversity" and advance towards a "richer and wiser" society.
The signing of the agreement coincided with the closing of the 21st edition of APASA's sports days, a well-established activity that promotes adapted physical activity among the entity's users. This year, nearly 180 participants engaged in 21 different sports modalities, including basketball, sailing, and rhythmic gymnastics.
“"We must make sports adapt to people and not the other way around."
During the event, APASA's general director championed adapted sports as a fundamental tool for inclusion and social participation. The event also saw the presence of the territorial representative of the Department of Sports, who underscored the cohesive value of sports activity.
