The city of Amposta will soon host the Menstrual Culture Conference, an initiative offering a dozen activities at the Espai Dones with the goal of breaking taboos and promoting a more conscious view of the menstrual cycle throughout its various stages. This event is organized by the Amposta City Council and Casa de Luna.
The conference will focus on health, well-being, and the scientific and feminist dissemination of the menstrual cycle, covering everything from menarche to menopause. Workshops, talks, and reflection spaces open to all citizens have been scheduled. The Councilor for Social Rights and Citizenship, Núria Ferré, emphasized the importance of continuing to move towards a "more conscious and free view of menstruation," addressing it from multiple perspectives.
The program will kick off on Thursday, May 21st, with a talk on the female body and body awareness. Friday, May 22nd, will feature the official presentation, followed by family workshops on menarche and the menstrual cycle, and a conference on the figure of wise women and popular tradition.
Saturday will be dedicated to gynecological health and physical and emotional well-being, including a mutual support meeting, educational activities, a literary proposal with a monologue, and talks on the pelvic floor and menopause, the latter accompanied by a tasting of local products.
Sunday will explore self-care and hormonal balance through dance and herbalism workshops, as well as activities focused on fertility and body connection. On Monday, the conference will conclude with a women's circle to share life experiences and address female taboos.
All activities will be free and open to the public. Throughout the weekend, the educational exhibition 'El Punt Vermell' (The Red Dot), which explains the menstrual cycle from an educational perspective, will also be available.
