Man arrested in Amposta for transporting hundreds of counterfeit jerseys

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 37-year-old man in Amposta for an alleged intellectual property crime after locating a large quantity of counterfeit soccer jerseys in his vehicle.

The incident occurred this Monday around 08:30, during a routine checkpoint established on the N-340 road, within the municipality of Amposta. During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle that was carrying a bulky load covered with a blanket in the back.
When asked by the officers about the nature of the cargo, the driver did not provide a clear explanation. Given this situation, the police officers proceeded to carry out a more detailed inspection in the safety zone set up for the checkpoint.
During the search, numerous travel and trash bags were found containing a large quantity of apparently counterfeit sports jerseys. The detainee could not provide any documentation proving the legal origin of the material.
According to the driver himself, his intention was to transport the merchandise to the weekly market in Amposta to distribute it among other people for sale. Faced with this evidence, the officers proceeded to his immediate arrest.
