The Board of CODITA believes that the decision to abolish the Nursing Directorate at the Amposta Comarcal Hospital represents "a serious setback in the healthcare governance model and in the recognition of nursing leadership within the health system".
The college emphasizes that the Nursing Directorate is a key body for ensuring care quality, patient safety, and team coordination. Nurses "lead complex care processes and bring a unique, indispensable, and complementary perspective," according to CODITA sources. Its elimination dilutes professional competencies and subordinates them to other management areas, contradicting advanced healthcare management models.
The measure not only affects nursing professionals but also "directly impacts the care model and, consequently, the quality of care received by citizens," as "weakening nursing leadership weakens the healthcare system".
The college has sent a letter to the hospital's management, the mayor of Amposta, and the Director of Nursing Care of the Catalan Health System, urging them to reconsider the decision and reinstate the directorate as a distinct structure within the center.
Finally, CODITA reiterates its willingness for institutional dialogue to build healthcare governance models aligned with the quality standards and professional recognition the system requires.
