The event, the only one of its kind in the Tarragona province, has attracted genre enthusiasts and the curious. According to festival director Jacint Espuny, the program includes sections for all tastes, from horror to children's animation, and many attendees return year after year.
This year's program featured over a hundred works, including short films like Screen of the dead by Canadian director Martin Bruyère, the horror film Reflections of a sinner by American director Xihe Huang, and the animation The land keeps watch by Ukrainian director Iryna Tanasiichuk. Eighty percent of the works were of international origin, with world or national premieres at the Casal and Lira Ampostina.
The organization is pleased to have become a benchmark for the sector and the public in less than two decades. In addition to screenings, the festival offered parallel activities, such as an exhibition dedicated to the universe of James Bond, which will be on display at the Museu de les Terres de l’Ebre until September 27th.
With an estimated attendance of over 4,000 people this edition, the organization aims to grow in future editions, with the goal of screening in two simultaneous rooms and extending the festival's duration.
