Terres de l'Ebre region bursts with culture and tradition with a packed festive agenda

The region hosts historical reenactments, gastronomic fairs, music festivals, and amateur theater throughout May.

The Terres de l'Ebre region is gearing up for a May full of activities, offering a diverse program that includes major festivals, musical events, deeply rooted traditions, and popular culture proposals for all audiences.

Between May 8 and 10, 2026, the Montsià region and its surroundings will be the epicenter of intense cultural activity. The program ranges from popular gatherings and traditional fairs to festivals and activities with pets in nature, ensuring options for all ages and interests.
In Santa Bàrbara, the historical reenactment festival Arrels Planeres will transport visitors to the early 20th century, with music, dances, popular games, a period market, and gastronomic proposals. Simultaneously, Alcanar will celebrate its May Festivities with a broad and varied program that will extend until May 17, with the traditional parade of 'pubilles' and 'hereus' as the kick-off.
Gastronomy will play a prominent role with the XXXI Olive Oil Fair of the Terres de l'Ebre in Jesús, which will include talks, popular meals, contests, and concerts. In l'Ampolla, the Delta Oyster Day will offer tastings, live music, and a festive atmosphere, coinciding with the start of the XXXV Oyster Gastronomic Days, which will last until May 24.
Music will also be a highlight with the Séniafest in la Sénia on May 8, featuring concerts by Palo Domado and Bribri Blibli, and the Xerta Rock in Xerta on May 9, which will include a performance by Alfredo Piedrafita, founder of the band Barricada. In la Ràpita, the Trets Festival will focus on Indian culture, with cinema, exhibitions, and round tables.
Finally, the VII Amateur Theater Exhibition of Terra Alta in Gandesa will offer a varied program from May 1 to 17, while the II Meeting of Border Collies and XXL Friends in Tivissa, on May 9 and 10, will combine canine coexistence with recreational and solidarity activities.
