Club Joventut d'Ulldecona is considering creating a women's junior team next season to continue the growth of grassroots basketball in the town.

Women's basketball in Ulldecona could take another step forward next season with the potential creation of a women's junior team by Club Joventut. According to information from the town council, the project is gaining momentum following the progress of several youth players, with five club members ready to move up to the junior category.
This addition is complemented by the drive of the cadet players, who continue their training and ensure the continuity of the youth system. However, the club still needs a few more signings to complete a competitive squad and establish the new team.
The initiative is particularly aimed at young women born in 2009 and 2010, whether they have basketball experience or wish to start in the sport. The entity highlights that the stage between 16 and 18 years old is one of the most rewarding for sports practice, allowing for a combination of competition with personal development, group camaraderie, and the acquisition of values such as discipline and commitment.
To facilitate compatibility between studies and sports, the club has planned a flexible training structure, with two weekly sessions in the afternoon and the possibility of training occasionally with other women's teams if personal circumstances require it.
The entity's representatives emphasize that the main objective is to ensure the continuity of players within the club and to strengthen the future of local women's basketball, also guaranteeing the generational handover to senior teams.
To this end, open days have been organized until June 12th. Interested individuals can visit the pavilion to try out without obligation or contact the coaches and the club for more information.
The project aims to continue growing women's basketball in Ulldecona and consolidate a sports structure that allows young players to continue developing within the entity.
