The City Council of La Ràpita has kicked off a general asphalt paving campaign that will allow for the renewal of a dozen main streets, roads, and avenues in the municipality over the coming weeks. The work, which will last until mid-October if weather permits, began on Valencia street and will gradually extend to different parts of the town.
This project has a global budget of 1.3 million euros. 95% of the investment comes from subsidies: 669,219.96 euros (51%) from the Single Plan for Works and Services of Catalonia (PUOSC) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and 577,315.35 euros (44%) from the ImpulsDipta Plan of the Provincial Council of Tarragona. The municipal contribution is 5%, specifically 65,607.13 euros.
The work has started on Valencia street and will continue along Constitució avenue, Pare Castro avenue, Catalunya avenue, Sant Josep street, Amposta street, Sant Tomàs street, Fundadors street, Sant Antoni street, la Parra street and travessera la Parra, as well as different sections of the N-340 and the TV-3406.
The technique used involves milling the existing asphalt (between 5 and 10 centimeters) to subsequently apply a new 5-centimeter layer, renewing the surface and restoring the height of the sidewalks.
This is the first phase of a broader plan. The City Council plans a second asphalt campaign before the end of the year to address nearly twenty more streets.
