The day will begin at 10 AM with the traditional Sardana mass, which will include offerings from various local groups. Following this, at 11 AM, the Sardana dance will take place in the Sant Crist gardens, accompanied by the Cobla Tàrrega.
The performance will feature Sota l’esguard del Sant Crist de Balaguer, by Josep Cassú, a composition that has become a distinctive element of the celebration in the city since its premiere.
Also featured will be Petita ofrena, the unitary Sardana for 2026, chosen to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of composer Francesc Mas i Ros. This piece will be played simultaneously at all Universal Sardana Day celebrations across the country.
The celebration, lasting approximately two hours, will include a popular breakfast and the reading of the unitary manifesto, this year written by meteorologist Tomàs Molina and read by local resident Àlvar Llobet.
The program will be completed with popular Sardanas, including two compositions by women: Els colors de l’estany, by Anna Abad, and Essència de dones, by Maria-Mercè Navarro.
The celebration is a joint initiative of the Paeria de Balaguer (City Council of Balaguer) and local Sardana organizations.
