The Youth Office of the Consell Comarcal de la Noguera is organizing a new edition of the JoVa project, aimed at young people aged 12 to 17. This year, the initiative involves 24 towns across 20 municipalities in the region, a figure very similar to the previous year. The program promotes summer volunteering to enhance local spaces, based on youth proposals and municipal needs, thereby fostering a sense of belonging.
The participating locations this year include Àger, Albesa, Algerri, Artesa de Segre, Balaguer, Bellcaire d’Urgell, Bellmunt d’Urgell, Camarasa, Castelló de Farfanya, Ivars de Noguera, la Sentiu de Sió, les Avellanes i Santa Linya, Menàrguens, Montgai (with Butsènit d’Urgell), Os de Balaguer (with Gerb), Penelles, Ponts, Térmens, Torrelameu, and Vallfogona de Balaguer (including l’Hostal Nou i la Codosa and la Ràpita). The presentation event was held at the Consell Comarcal de la Noguera with the presence of local authorities and some participants.
Key activities involve the adaptation and cleaning of municipal areas, refurbishment of urban furniture, and collaboration in local events. Participating youth are required to dedicate a minimum of 30 hours during July and August. The registration period has now closed.
A notable new feature is the consolidation of the Acampada JoVa, an overnight outdoor camp in a natural setting within the region. This activity, successfully piloted last year, aims to strengthen bonds and cohesion among the participating youth.
The program will conclude on August 26th with a trip to PortAventura for all participants, as a token of appreciation for their efforts. First-time participants will also receive a commemorative JoVa t-shirt.
