A forest fire broke out around six in the evening in Ponts, in the Noguera region. Currently, about fifty crews from the Generalitat Firefighters, ten of them aerial, are working to control the flames affecting an area of approximately 10 hectares. According to provisional data from the Rural Agents, the temporarily affected area is about 6.5 hectares. The fire has reached the ridge of Sant Pere de Ponts, and emergency personnel are now working to contain the flanks.
The flames have forced the closure of the C-14 road between kilometers 112 and 124, in the section connecting Vilanova de l’Aguda and Ponts. Diversions are being implemented to facilitate the extinguishing tasks.
“"We currently have 42 Firefighter crews active, 7 of them aerial. The fire has reached the ridge of Sant Pere de Ponts. We are working to contain the flanks of a working area of about 10 hectares."
This fire in Ponts is in addition to the two fires that the Firefighters managed to control on Sunday morning. One had been burning since Saturday in Segarra, and the other in Cervià de les Garrigues (les Garrigues), which has burned at least 33 hectares and forced the evacuation of eight houses as a precaution, activating the ES-Alert system to confine the area of Partida de la Devesa.
“"The fire started in Cervià de les Garrigues (Les Garrigues), already stabilized by Firefighters, affects an approximate area of 46 hectares, according to provisional data from the Rural Agents. We are working on the hypothesis of a radial as the main cause of the fire."
