The tender for the expansion works at Escola Mont-roig in Balaguer has been declared void, as no companies submitted bids for the public tender due to the rising cost of construction materials.

The increased cost of construction materials has resulted in the tender for the expansion works at Escola Mont-roig in Balaguer being declared void. No companies submitted bids for the public tender initiated by the Paeria on March 5th.
The mayor, Lorena González, explained on Ràdio Balaguer that companies ultimately decided against bidding because the initial project budget of 3.6 million euros had become outdated due to the rise in construction material prices, influenced by the geopolitical situation.
The Paeria has begun discussions with the Department of Education and sector companies to explore alternatives. According to González, companies indicated that a budget increase of between 15% and 18% would be necessary for the project to be viable. The Paeria has negotiated with Education for increased funding up to 4.2 million euros to avoid altering the original project.
In parallel, the Paeria will present the climate control project for the el Patufet nursery school to the council today, with a budget of 230,000 euros.
