The Department of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition is close to finalizing the project for the rehabilitation and expansion of the bridge over the Noguera Pallaresa river in Sort. This action, carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and the City Council of Sort, includes the construction of a walkway attached to the current structure to improve pedestrian and cyclist mobility. The works are expected to be tendered next autumn with a budget of 1.3 million euros.
The Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, has highlighted that the objective is to boost the update of the Pyrenean Axis to achieve real transversal connectivity in the Lleida Pyrenees regions, including local urban integration actions.
The current bridge, 46 meters long and with 6 meters of useful width, hinders pedestrian mobility. The project plans to expand it with an independent walkway of up to 4 meters wide on the downstream side, built with concrete and steel. Rehabilitation work on the existing structure, such as waterproofing and cleaning, will also be carried out.
These improvements are part of the agreement between the Generalitat and the Ministry for the improvement of the functionality and safety of the Pyrenean Axis (N-260), with an expected state investment of 260 million euros until 2033. Other mentioned actions include a new roundabout in Sort, a walkway in Senterada, improvements in Baro and Llacunes, and the expansion of the tunnel in Viu.
