Firefighters have controlled a forest fire in Comiols, in Artesa de Segre, which has burned 32 hectares and caused the closure of the C-1412b road for several hours.

The fire broke out at 16:23 yesterday and required the deployment of more than thirty ground crews and four aerial units. Extinction efforts were supported by local farmers and members of the ADF, who plowed nearby fields to stop the flames from spreading.
The Rural Agents are investigating whether the origin of the fire could be related to work carried out with a combine harvester. The fire coincided with a day of extreme danger in much of the Lleida region, where level 4 of the Pla Alfa had been activated in several municipalities in Noguera, Alt Urgell, Pallars Jussà, and Segrià.
The situation was particularly complex due to the simultaneous occurrence of other fires in Catalonia, such as those recorded in Sentmenat and Carme. Given this scenario, the ADF have proposed a voluntary halt to harvesting during the central hours of the day to minimize the risk of spread in agricultural areas connected to forest lands.
