The Welcome and Coexistence Service has launched eight Catalan language courses and three conversation groups, distributed across eight associated municipalities. The aim is to facilitate Catalan learning, promote the autonomy of newcomers, and contribute to their social inclusion.
The activities, which will run until May, are aimed at newcomers and offer spaces for language learning and practice. Beyond acquiring linguistic knowledge, the initiative seeks to provide tools for daily life, facilitate access to local resources, and strengthen community ties.
The program is being rolled out in Aiguafreda, Balenyà, Folgueroles, Sant Martí de Centelles, Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer, Seva, Taradell, and Tona. Tona has the highest number of registrations, with 47 people, followed by Balenyà (31) and Taradell (21).
The offering includes courses taught through the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística and conversation groups linked to the Vincles Project of Òmnium Cultural Osona-Lluçanès. Additionally, six Catalan groups have been initiated across the participating municipalities.
“"Learning Catalan is much more than acquiring language knowledge; it's about having more tools to relate, participate in the life of the towns, and develop with autonomy."
This action is part of the Caring for People axis of the Mancomunitat Action Plan (PAM) 2023-2027 and responds to the strategic objective of fostering welcome and coexistence.
