The exhibition space at Can Puget in Manlleu is hosting a show by Jordi Casals throughout August. The exhibition is based on the posthumous poetry collection "L'Enigma blau" by Jacint Sala and the impact it had on Casals, as well as honoring Ton Carrera, a key figure in the project's initial conception and the creation of the works.
The initiative arose from Casals' discovery of the poetry collection and the desire to exalt its content with the collaboration of Ton Carrera, a personal friend of the painter who voiced the poems and contributed to the work until his passing.
The publication of the poems was the first step of the project, leading to the need to express the sentiments and content of the collection through art. The first piece, "Esclat de sentiments" (Burst of Feelings), was transformed by Casals from a sketch by Carrera.
The exhibition features around thirty paintings. Casals' creations are "at the service of the poems that accompany each work," without a defined style. According to the artist, the "splashes of color and shapes" in each piece are meant to "make their life's journey," culminating a project aimed at preventing Sala's poetry book from being forgotten.
The exhibition can be visited throughout August at the Manlleu exhibition space, from Thursday to Sunday, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Admission is free.
