Manlleu celebrates 20 years of the Serpent with a grand performance

The Serpent association is celebrating its twentieth anniversary with a grand performance of its legend on Friday, August 14th, in Manlleu, featuring the participation of hundreds of volunteers and institutional support.

The Serpent association is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year with a special performance of its legend on Friday, August 14th. The event will take place at ten in the evening at the Embarcador area of the Ter promenade, promising an unforgettable evening for the citizens of Manlleu.
Throughout this commemorative year, the cultural entity has organized various initiatives, including an exhibition and a documentary about the Serpent's history, the creation of commemorative t-shirts, and the launch of a miniature Serpent figure. These activities aim to keep the legend alive in collective memory.
Over a hundred volunteers are actively participating in rehearsals for the scenes to be presented. The performance director, Biel Costa, has expressed his enthusiasm despite the nerves: "I'm nervous, but very excited about everything we've prepared."
The Capital del Ter has shown full support for the event. Well-known figures such as the mayor, Arnau Rovira, and councilors Eva Font and Rafa Cuenca have attended rehearsals, highlighting the importance of popular culture and the Serpent legend for the city's cultural identity.
The afternoon of Friday, August 14th, will also feature the children's performance of the Serpent dels Menuts. Starting from half-past four in the afternoon, children will enjoy workshops and games at the Embarcador del Ter. Additionally, food trucks will be open before the children's performance, scheduled for half-past seven in the evening, which will serve as a prelude to the grand evening celebration on the Passeig del Ter.
