The Agrupació Sardanista Manlleuenca will bring its summer sardana dance cycle to a close this Friday, July 31st, at 9:30 PM in Plaça Fra Bernadí. The event will feature a performance by Cobla Bisbal Jove and include an improvised group competition, where participants will form teams to dance various songs. The day will conclude with refreshments and a tasting of cake and llonganissa.
Throughout the cycle, seven dances have been organized, featuring coblas from across Catalonia. The group's president, Imma Pujol, views the event positively as a good way to enjoy warm Fridays by dancing sardanas. Despite a steady attendance with people from the entire region, greater participation would have been welcomed.
The 82nd Aplec de la Sardana was a notable event, bringing together coblas La Principal del Llobregat and La Marinada. Pujol reflects on the preservation of the sardana, emphasizing the importance of continuing to focus on the quality of the groups and the promotion of Catalan culture.
The association is already planning future activities, including a sardana concert for the Festa Major on Saturday, August 15th, in Plaça Fra Bernadí with Cobla La Flama de Farners. Following that, on Sunday, August 23rd, a dance will be held for the Festes del Barri de Gràcia with Cobla Sabadell.
Furthermore, on October 24th, the Teatre Municipal will host a cobla concert featuring Cobla Sant Jordi Ciutat de Barcelona, marking the end of a year in which the entity has maintained its commitment to offering quality sardana performances in Manlleu.
