A citizen complaint has highlighted the poor condition of some facilities at the children's playground located on Bisbe Morgades street in Vic. Despite being recently constructed, damage has already been detected that could pose a risk to children.
The swings are particularly noted, as they are often used by adults, leading to misuse and noise disturbances for residents at night. Additionally, a broken piece on a climbing wall has been reported, which has been repaired, and another that will require replacement soon.
“"It should be taken into account that a large number of children use it, and sometimes something can break, unfortunately, sometimes due to the misuse of the equipment, as you mention, by young people who shouldn't be there."
The Vic City Council has confirmed the repair of a swing and announced work will be done to replace a climbing wall component. The issue of nighttime access and use of the park is also being addressed, with plans to turn off the internal lighting from 10 PM to 9 AM, although the surrounding streetlights near homes will remain.
A general inspection of the facilities is planned to ensure user safety, and measures are being taken to control access during nighttime hours, as well as to raise awareness about the proper use of the equipment.
