A group of retirees who meet daily at Parc Balmes in Vic has lodged a complaint with the City Council regarding the neglected state of the Jaume Balmes statue and the surrounding benches.

The residents, who call themselves "Friends of Balmes", point out that the philosopher's statue is covered in leaves and dirt, and that nearby benches are soiled with bird droppings and need repainting. They believe this situation presents a poor image of the city, especially to tourists visiting the park.
The request aims to ensure a space "worthy of the city and for those of us who stop by daily", calling for regular cleaning of the sculpture and improvement of the street furniture to preserve the image of Jaume Balmes and the city as a tourist destination.

"We would like to ask the City Council if the Balmes statue could be cleaned from time to time, as it is full of leaves and dirt."

"Likewise, a good coat of paint would do them good."
