Citizens living in the center of Vic are reporting a growing feeling of a lack of appropriate spaces for their pets. They explain that the current dog parks are small and often lack shade, limiting dogs' ability to run and get necessary exercise.
Residents note that when they try to let dogs off-leash in areas where they could move freely, they often feel scrutinized as if they were doing something wrong, when they are simply trying to meet a basic need for their animals.
“"I ask that the City Council consider creating recreation areas for dogs, not just dog parks, especially near the center, where they can run safely and without bothering anyone."
They also believe that the creation of these spaces would improve coexistence between dog owners and the rest of the community. They emphasize that many Vic residents own dogs and desire a city that is more welcoming to animals.
