The Ethnographic Film Showcase of Catalonia, promoted by the Observatori del Patrimoni Etnològic i Immaterial of the Generalitat de Catalunya, reaches its 16th edition. The Museu del Ter, for the fourteenth consecutive year, coordinates the programming in the regions of Osona, Lluçanès, and Ripollès.
This year, the showcase will take place in 7 towns: Ripoll, Cantonigròs, Taradell, Vic, Manlleu (with 3 sessions), Prats de Lluçanès, and Torelló. In total, 9 sessions will be held, combining old amateur footage with current documentaries and fiction films.
The program includes films such as Dones muntanya (Eduard Costa and Sònia Armengol), which portrays the lives of four elderly women in Garrotxa; L’últim arròs (Ramon Villegas Guix and Marc Parramon Bori), a tribute to a historic restaurant in Cabrera; and Mans destres: Josep Pons, torner tallista (Jacint Torrents, Jordi Crusats), presenting the traditional woodcrafting trade.
Also screened will be Historias del buen valle (José Luis Guerín), a choral portrait of the Vallbona neighborhood in Barcelona; Mans destres: Teresa Grané, mestra puntaire (Jacint Torrents, Jordi Crusats), about the textile art of bobbin lace; Teatre Orient (Roser Reixach Brià, Pep Pujol Salvans), narrating the history of an emblematic venue in Prats de Lluçanès; and Aigols (Carles Martorell).
The showcase highlights how audiovisuals serve as a key tool for ethnographic heritage research and dissemination, contributing to the preservation and valorization of the country's audiovisual ethnographic heritage.
