Manlleu aims to promote sustainable mobility and reduce CO2 emissions during European Mobility Week, themed "Mobility for All" this year. This initiative, promoted across Europe, seeks to encourage healthier, safer, and more sustainable travel habits, impacting air quality, road safety, and physical activity.
According to the 2024 Catalan Health Survey (ESCA), a significant portion of the population uses active travel methods: 39.8% of women and 30.0% of men primarily travel by foot, bicycle, or non-electric scooter. Public transport is also gaining traction, with 24.9% of women and 17.0% of men reporting its regular use. Among children, cycling and walking are the predominant ways to get to school.
As part of the celebration, the Manlleu City Council will organize a popular bike ride against climate change on October 4. The event will conclude at Plaça Fra Bernadí with a bicycle repair workshop. These activities are part of the Porc i Cervesa gastronomic fair, aiming to encourage cycling as an alternative to private vehicles and make Manlleu a more sustainable city.
